Fabric Care

Fabric Properties And Wash Care

Most of Puurple.Co products are handcrafted using natural fibres. The subtle variations in color, texture & finish are the signature of the human hand. Creating each product is a lengthy process rooted in the crafts-based traditions of wood block printing, dying & embroidery, each with its own specialty and character.

Fabric Care

We offer following information and care suggestions which will help you extend the life of your products even further.

Fabric Care For Cotton

Properties

Most of Puurple.Co clothing is 100% pure cotton. Handwoven cotton fabric has the added value of allowing more air penetration and is therefore cooler, softer, more absorbent. This added breathability means you will stay cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Cotton is a very strong fibre, even when wet, so it holds up very well to repeated laundering.

Shrinkage

During the dyeing and printing processes, the yarn and then the fabric is repeatedly washed. This helps to ensure full dye penetration, removes residual surface dye & also reduces shrinkage in the final tailored product. Depending on how you care for the product, additional shrinkage ranges from 5-10% for printed fabrics.

Wash Care

Please refer to the specific care instructions with the garment. Because cotton is so strong when wet, caring for cotton is very simple and the more you wash it, the softer and more absorbent it becomes. The following tips will help you extend the life of the product.

  • Hand Wash Recommended for Handblock print Cottons & Embroidered Prints

  • Some colors may require to be washed separately the first few times.

  • Wash items with like colors and turn your clothes inside out, especially dark colors. Dry them in Shade.

Ironing

Warm Iron for Cotton Materials and Inside out ironing for Embroidered Patterns

Disclaimer

Fabrics such as cotton, wool, rayon, silk and linen tend to shrink due to the natural properties of the material. We have no way of determining the inherent properties of a dyed fabric, as many processes and finishes may have been used prior to us receiving the garment. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for shrinkage.

Please do not spray deodorant, mist or perfume on the dress directly and avoid using one especially for gold & silver prints.
